Wall
A wall is a chain of plane faces through two or more wall positions (wallPositionType), reaching from these positions to the surface of the fuselage or vessel. Its sheet, reinforcements and caps are a structural wall element of the library (structuralWallElementType), referenced by <structuralWallElementUID>.
Faces
<wallPositionUIDs> lists the positions in order; there is one face between each pair of consecutive positions. The face is spanned by the straight line between the two positions and the extrusion direction: the z-axis rotated about the x-axis by <phi>, measured like <referenceAngle> in stringerFramePositionType: 0° points up, 90° towards −y, i.e. to the left in flight direction, and 180° down. From the line, the face reaches in the extrusion direction to the surface; with <doubleSidedExtrusion> set to true, it reaches to the surface in the opposite direction as well. Along the line, the face ends at the two positions.
In the figure (b), the ceiling of the bay runs along x through two positions at y = 0, z = −0.75 m; 90° turns its extrusion direction from the z-axis to −y, and the double-sided extrusion takes it to the skin on both sides.
Ends
The first edge of the wall runs from its first position in the extrusion direction, the last edge from its last position. With <flushConnectionStart> set to true, the first edge lies instead in the plane of the element that gives the x-coordinate of the first position — a pressure bulkhead, a section or another wall — so that the wall meets that element without a gap; <flushConnectionEnd> does the same for the last edge. This requires the first or last position to be given by such an element, and the element to be plane where the position lies on it.
Bounding elements
<boundingElementUIDs> names other walls, e.g. one that serves as a floor, or generic geometric components (genericGeometricComponentType) that cut this wall. A bounding wall is extended beyond its first and last position for this. Of the parts into which they divide the wall, the one that contains the positions of the wall remains.
Rules
The positions lie inside the fuselage or vessel or on its surface.
A wall does not depend on itself: neither the positions nor the bounding elements of a wall refer back to it, directly or through other walls.
