Walls inside a fuselage or vessel
Walls divide the inside of a fuselage or a vessel, e.g. the pressure deck and the aft wall of the bay of the main landing gear, the walls of a cargo compartment, or the walls between the tanks of a vessel. Each wall is a chain of plane faces through points, the wall positions, and reaches from these points to the surface of the fuselage or vessel.
Positions and segments
<wallPositions> lists the points (wallPositionType), all in the coordinate system of the fuselage or vessel. <wallSegments> lists the walls (wallSegmentType); each connects two or more of the points in its own order and extrudes the connection in one direction. Walls may share points, so that they meet along a common edge.
The figure shows the walls of the bay of the main landing gear in the example, behind the wing box and below the cabin floor. The ceiling Fuselage_mlgBayCeiling runs at z = −0.75 m from the rear spar at x = 13.25 m to x = 15.4 m, and the aft wall Fuselage_mlgBayAftWall runs from the common position Fuselage_mlgBayAft down to the keel. Both are extruded sideways in both directions, to the skin on either side: (a) shows the section at y = 0, (b) the section through the ceiling, whose two positions both lie at y = 0, z = −0.75 m.
