Inner or outer border of a leading edge device
A border is a section of the wing through two points of the chord surface of the component segment: the leading edge point PLE at etaLE and ξ = 0, i.e. on the leading edge of the wing, and the trailing edge point PTE at etaTE and xsiTE. etaTE defaults to etaLE. The section plane contains both points and the normal of the component segment. The η and ξ coordinates refer to the parent of the control surface.
Where the rear side of the leading edge device meets the upper and the lower surface of the wing at different positions, xsiTEUpper and xsiTELower replace xsiTE; PTE then lies at the larger of the two. innerShape describes the hollow rear side between these points (leadingEdgeHollowType), and airfoil replaces the section by an airfoil contour (contourReferenceType). All ξ values, including xsiTEUpper and xsiTELower, are relative chordwise coordinates of the component segment.
The figure shows the sections at the inner borders of the flap, the slat and the spoiler of the example in controlSurfacesType, with the values that define their contours.
